DISTRICT 9 LIVE ON CRUCIAL CHAOS WNYU MARCH 9, 1995

So I don’t have a lot of “important” stuff to say about this set but one amusing thing was the fact that their singer “Puerto Rican” Myke just about cursed IMMEDIATELY when they went on the air!! Haha For those who don’t know, the FCC is the government agency in America that forbids cursing on radio airwaves so it was almost a bad thing that he said, “Word up from the MotherF… Fn Bronx.” Just narrowly catching himself! Which is why you then hear the guitarist, Todd The Kid say, “Easy Myke, FCC.” Haha… Myke also almost cursed MANY times throughout their set! But he actually did a very good job of censoring himself. So, props to him for that. Haha However, he did finally say “Shit” at 24:25 and immediately apologized for saying it! Haha Followed by their bassist, Loki saying, “Watcha you mouth.”
A side note- at 5:40 Myke shouts out, “Yo and to my boy Keith, I don’t know who you are bro but this song goes out to you, yo.” So, “Keith” was actually Gennady, the guitarist from Setback! He had called in and pranked Myke to shout that name out!
Another interesting side note- At 20:55 Myke says, “Yo Vinnie, come back man. No Redeeming needs you, come back, man.” He was referring to Vinnie Value (RIP) the drummer from No Redeeming Social Value, Warzone and many other bands. At that point Vinnie had just gone on tour in Europe with Warzone and at the end of their tour had decided to stay in Maastricht, NL for a week or two instead of coming back to NYC. Because of this he missed a show with NRSV and District 9 at The Train Depot in the Bronx. Which lead to the now infamous set that the NRSV guys did a jam with members of District 9 at that show during which Dean and Mike from NRSV got naked and rolled around on stage! Footage of this can be seen in the “NYHC” documentary! (Fun fact: NRSV asked me that night if I knew any of their songs and could jump up and play with them. At the time, I did not. But a few years later I joined NRSV!)
But a definite musical highlight of this set is that they played the song “Game Of Politics”! This is the only place you can ever hear that song! They had actually recorded the song when they did their second demo with Don Fury but the song was never released. So that’s a good reason to give this set a listen right there. And it’s the last song so it makes you listen to it all! Haha!

“So all I remember from the show is all of us in the I guess waiting area smoking mad blunts. Then someone telling us it was time to play. So we plugged in and started playing and everyone with us going wild like it was a real show. It was mad fun, but extremely foggy cause I was sooo blasted!!!”
